Jul 2013 - Jun 2018
I help UK companies maximise their full export potential in our region marketing the region and its business opportunities, thus contributing to the UK Government’s ambitious target of doubling exports to £1 trillion by 2020. My key career successes include the Silver Medal for Co-operation across Borders (December 2016), UKTI’s Chief Executive’s Award won for Delivering Results (November 2014), running complex and large multi-market business delegation projects (March 2014, March 2015, October 2015), as well as creating high-performing cross-border teams shown also in our end year results (outpeforming 180% of our targets). I lead work on the strategic direction and execution for our network, including new business development, building and managing strategic partnerships/sponsors, managing key accounts, leading multiple marketing campaigns and delivering events, including commissioning work from Design, PR, Communication and Event Management agencies. I create internal and external marketing and communication plans to maximise publicity and exposure. I design performance management tools, monitor our dashboard, and oversee the region’s budget. I lead virtual project teams to deliver successful events, “landings” and business wins for UK PLC. I spearhead the network’s further development by organising shared learning and upskilling sessions, embedding better ways of working, as well as editing our region’s internal newsletter to enhance internal communication. I lead and collaborate with the 10 teams in our region, as well as with colleagues and delivery partners in London, the English regions, and globally. Show less

Government Affairs Manager

Jan 2010 - Jun 2013
I was responsible for developing and maintaining Tesco’s strategic relationships with a view to protecting and enhancing Tesco’s reputation as a responsible company in Hungary. My key career successes in these nearly four years were many, but the ones I am most proud of are the Strategic Partnership Agreement with the Hungarian Government in December 2012, the “Back to Work” (in Hungarian “Újra dolgozom!”) project in May 2012, and the Regional Suppliers’ Forums. Given the negative image the company had when I joined, developing key stakeholder relationships with influencers, politicians, NGOs, the press and strategies for influencing were a delicate but immensely important part of my role. In this role, in addition to developing and strengthening stakeholder relations and influencing strategies, I also had many opportunities to try my hand at all of the other related Corporate Affairs fields: in CSR (e.g. Stakeholder Dialogues, Back to Work, Renexpo with our low carbon agenda), in internal communications (contributing with articles to the internal magazine, company conference), as well as in PR & Press (e.g. store openings, apple season launch press event). I contributed to the continuous improvement of the company: by providing guidance and training to graduates, to store teams to enable them to successfully deliver steering wheel targets, as well as participating in cross company best practice and shared learning sessions. I represented Tesco at various trade body meetings, including the Retail and the Shopping Mall Associations. I managed the GA Specialist, mentored CA Graduates. All of the activities, I drove across, and in partnership with other business units, including HR, Commercial, NSOT, Operations and Marketing. My Regional Suppliers Forums became the most popular CSR activity amongst colleagues. I am particularly proud of the improved government relations, our Job Guarantee (aka Regeneration Partnership), and our Regional Suppliers' Forum programmes. Show less

Senior Trade & Investment Adviser, UKTI

Jun 2004 - Dec 2009
I covered sectors such as retail, food & drink, agriculture, engineering, aerospace, tourism and Aid Funded Business. I provided market entry/access advice to British businesses, developed influencing strategies, led lobbying cases, “sold Hungary” as a place to do business. To be effective and knowledgeable, I had to develop a network of contacts, gather market intelligence, and carry out market research on behalf of UK companies. I organised briefings and programmes for VIP visitors, UK committees and business delegations, for inward and outward missions. I visited UK/international exhibitions and seminars to inform businesses about market opportunities in Hungary. I managed our section’s £100K+ budget, delivered/outperformed UKTI annual score-card targets, acted as Deputy Head of Section, line managed Assistant UKTI Advisers, and was an active member of the Embassy’s Appraisal Quality Control Board. In this role, I was responsible for the Embassy's budget. I ensured the smooth financial running of the Embassy by accurate funding profiles, correct salary calculations, and timely settlement of invoices. During my time here, I successfully merged the Embassy’s accounting system from ‘POAC’ to ‘E-Dynamics’. I entered and analysed payments/receipts, carried out cross references and surprise checks, generated monthly reports, closed the accounts each month and continuously liaised with our bank. Customer care was of paramount importance both with external as well as internal customers. I managed the work of the Accounts Assistant and the Accounts Clerks. Show less
