It’s rare that you come across an astounding talent like Volunteer Barakat. We had the pleasure of working with Barakat for six weeks at the Fame Illuminate program. Above all, We were particularly impressed by Barakat’s ability to handle the tough conditions of the public school she was assigned to effortlessly. That skill often takes years to develop, but it seemed to come perfectly naturally to her. Oh, and she made sure our beneficiaries were never without smiles after each session delivery. Talk about delivering results! Barakat would be an asset to any team she works with.

It's exciting to be a part of the TSL community. In the last few months, I have learnt quite a lot in the area of plant immunity. Being here is helping me bridge the knowledge gaps I had before now. It's exciting to be a part of the TSL community. In the last few months, I have learnt quite a lot in the area of plant immunity. During the period of this internship, I was part of the team that produce the known biocontrol agent, Aflasafe, for selected African countries. I acquired skills including fungal isolation, identification and characterization, fungal DNA extraction, quantification and sequencing, microbial isolation from different samples and aflatoxin analysis. I am grateful to Dr Alejandro Ortega-Beltran for the opportunity.
