  I leverage my R skills to develop the back end of applications.The first of my two main projects was to turn the reporting dashboards I worked on previously into applications we can integrate into the InSites ecosystem. I also made many improvements to the R part of the dashboards e.g. to speed up queries and make my custom functions scalable and future proof. In my second main project I work with fellow back-end and front-end developers to create InSites's own data cleaning and analysis software. In all my programming I strive to write code that's up to industry best practice standards.In addition to coding, I am also one of the managers of InSites Advanced Analytics network, connecting colleagues involved in research using advanced methods, holding training sessions, and providing statistics or coding help where needed.   I built four related dashboards in R using Shiny as their front end. The dashboards draw their source data into R via SQL queries, then perform a fairly complex set of data cleaning and editing steps to help consultants track their projects’ progress.

  My contributions included data analysis, project planning and execution, and cross-team collaboration. For our Australian office's biggest client, I did ran a series of SEM models to uncover what drives trust in their brand, yielding robust and actionable results. When I was tasked with deciding ISC’s future provider of client dashboards (a decision impacting hundreds of people), I worked with a dozen internal stakeholders and five prospective suppliers. I also created 68 indicators for a high-quality objective assessment and managed the decision making project myself.I also worked on numerous side projects involving data analysis to answer questions such as: what predicts which research activities will do how well? Are our participants biased toward particular brands? What part of context is relevant for people's evaluation of products? Show less

  1. Research on political participation - In my dissertation I used a variety of methods to show the impact of two variables, agenda congruence (how well the elite's perceived agenda matches that of the individual) and latent dimension congruence (how well the liberal-conservative dimension represents the structure of a person's own political views) on different forms of participation, including: institutional, non-institutional, and civic participation, as well as voting. The methodological framework of the study is SEM with non-linear components added, based on my own data as well as international datasets. 2. Research on political ideology - The main focus of my research was to uncover the 'real' factor structure of political ideology as opposed to the simplified conservative-liberal (right-left) view. In the process I developed a survey and used CFA to demonstrate the existence of a five-factor structure. These results have the potential to reshape the way we conceptualize political ideology and the left-right dimension. 3. Individual teaching - I had the privilege to teach the department's Political Analysis course, an extensive introduction to social scientific research centered primarily on methods and critical thinking tools. 4. Teaching assistant - I participated in the teaching of and contributed to the development of two courses: Power and Politics in America (an online introductory class) and Genetics, Brains, and Politics (a class centered on the emerging discipline of Biopolitics, my department's specialty).   Since its inception in 2010, the Political Ideology Lab has served as a small hub for students from a variety of backgrounds interested in doing research in the field. A dozen members, multiple projects and numerous articles and conference presentations. My responsibilities were: 1. Leadership - I co-founded the research lab and acted as its coordinator for the first 2.5 years of its lifespan. My responsibilities included: strategic planning, recruiting, organizing meetings, providing feedback, setting tasks, and in general coordinating and supervising the lab's work. 2. Representation and networking - I represented the lab at various conferences and gatherings and initiated, as well as maintained cooperative efforts with other institutions such as CEU's PolBeRG. 3.
