Contributed to a book chapter on the subject and published by the Springer. Marine bio-products • Accomplished finger print method for identification of Astaxanthin, a light harversting super anti-oxidant, in various forms such as aggregates, geometrical isomers and enantiomers in various environments (2009-13) and Effective coordinate conjugation theory was adopted to quantify the results. • Successfully developed and implemented an extraction procedure for 2D photonic structures from fish scales. (2011-13) A patent is filed for the extraction procedure. • Molecular modeling of bio molecules, optical design modeling and computation: • Development of 2D-Photonic crystal based bio-sensor is under progress. Composite materials • Provided scientific consultation for various industries on composite materials. • Accomplished the development new coatings to prolong the lifetime of composite materials based on nanoparticle dispersed sols. Obtained results are to the industry specifications and project is at the pilot scale stage. • Construction of Electrochromic/Photoelectrochromic Devices: Electrochromism is the ability to change optical transmittance under a small voltage, typically blocking the IR radiation and allowing only visible light. Tungsten oxide based electrochromic devices were constructed and tested successfully. A superior optical modulation of 75% was obtained. • Li ion intercalation sites in hexagonal WO3 were identified by spectroscopic methods. • Templated advanced sol-gel strategy was… Show more • Construction of Electrochromic/Photoelectrochromic Devices: Electrochromism is the ability to change optical transmittance under a small voltage, typically blocking the IR radiation and allowing only visible light.
