I worked in an insect ecology lab under Dr. Kate Mathis in the Biology Department at Clark University. I worked on a project modeling the encroachment of woody plants into grasslands and the conversion of savannas to open woodlands and shrublands in Southwestern USA. To model this, I studied the seed dispersing behavior of ants and rodents in conjunction to this ecosystem transition. I received funding to complete this project through a Steinbrecher Fellowship, a grant for undergraduate independent research.
