I worked on multiple projects as a member of the Supply Chain excellence team, including monitoring customer logistic efficiency discounts, providing Brexit related information and internal/external KPI reporting for Tesco. Process Improvements – I made steps to document processes and improve them where necessary. For example, I created a Brexit data self-service file in excel, and wrote a guide to updating it. This saved me approximately 10 hours per week, being able to direct people to one place, not looking in multiple sources of information. Training – I quickly picked up tasks and have understood them well enough to be able to successfully train and write process documentation for some of the projects mentioned above. Communication – I have presented my ideas/finding to senior stakeholders in both meetings and email. As part of Brexit data, I managed queries from all parts of the business, and I have trained colleagues on my tasks. I have been able to successfully tailor my communication for all of these scenarios. For example, more customer service focused when working on the inbox, more detail focused when training and providing the top line information to senior stakeholders. Time management – I am adept at working on multiple projects simultaneously. If needed I have prioritized the most important tasks and kept an open line of communication with my line manager and team. Extra Activities – I took part in the Unilever Future Leaders League. As part of a team our idea for ‘The Vegetarian Butcher’ brand was selected to give a presentation to the marketing manager and UK&I general manager. Show less

I was part of the Research and Development Team, working on a project to reconcile a new reporting software with a previous system. My main responsibilities were to collect data from both platforms, then highlight the differences and find any possible causes for the discrepancies. These were passed on to my line manager and I would help write documentation concerning the change. This work was successful; the new system is now being used across the business. Organisation - Alongside the main task, I took an SQL course and completed ad-hoc assignments as they came up. Problem Solving - Investigating the causes of the differences involved understanding and editing complex SQL queries. I quickly learnt basic SQL and applied it to this project. Fast-Learning - Throughout the internship I quickly picked up new concepts about the whole business and specific data. Communication - I communicated effectively with my colleagues, line manager and other departments via video conferencing, to ensure that no part of the project was missed, and no work overlapped. Remote Working – I was still able to work hard and communicate effectively. Show less

Teamwork – I worked closely with my colleagues and line manager, ensuring all daily jobs were done on time. Additionally, I helped manage new tasks as they came in, alleviating pressure on permanent staff members. Communication – I was in constant contact with my colleagues and line manager to ensure each job was going smoothly. Additionally, I was understanding customers’ needs, helping where I could, and giving condensed feedback to my line manager so they could act accordingly. Attention to detail – I proofread and trialled a book of magic aimed at teens. I found specific improvements on accuracy of the instructions, language, style and design. Written communication - I wrote a report of the work that I did, which was commended by my line manager. Curiosity – I quickly researched the magic market to take on the project and deliver successfully. Attention to detail – I proofread and trialled a book of magic aimed at teens. I look forward to linking what I have learnt at University to a real-life setting; combining, computational, theoretical and experimental work to find the best solution.
