I am currently employed as an apprentice service engineer working towards my qualification an lift truck and powered access level 3 . My normal work day typically consists of repairing machines and conducting pre delivery inspections. When I check in on a morning I will check the work board and speak to my foreman about what repairs I will be doing and depending of the difficulty of the task depends if I will be doing the repair alone or with my mentor. I work on lots of brands of machines for example Dingli, Niftylift, Skyjack, Genie and JLG. Doing repairs is my favourite part of the job as I love fixing, fault finding, problem solving and testing my abilities. I have a vast collection of my own tools I have bought preparing my self for the day I’m qualified and on the road. I take lots of pictures of the repairs I do which I use as evidence for job write ups I need to complete for college. When I’m not doing repairs I conduct PDI’s on machines making sure they are safe to use and up standard cosmetically for example decals and paintwork. To make sure the machines are safe to use I inspect everything from the chassis to the basket. I also do preventive maintenance to minimise the chance of the machine breaking down. I then function test the machine to make sure it does all correct functions and all emergency features work accordingly. Show less
