Acik Studyo (Open Studio) is established in summer 2016 in Izmir by the motivation of opening a new space for performing arts. Being open to different possibilities, collaborations and pursuits in the areas like production and presentation of works, audience development and education is the main principle of the studio and it defines itself as a performance researches center. Acik Studyo is also existed by the need of bringing Safak Ersozlu and Bahar Nihal Ersozlu’s works together which were continuous in Istanbul and Izmir since 2006. It will host the works of budalasultan and Visibility in Arts Festival – Izmir collectives. It is also open to artists from various disciplines and backgrounds. The studio will be initially working on production and presentation of performances (contemporary dance, theater, music and inter-multidisciplinary performance etc.), event (festival, workshop etc.) management, education (contemporary dance, theater, tai chi etc.) and thematic workshops (body awareness, dynamic of groups, relaxation by traditional technics etc.) for special groups. These titles will develope according to the collaborations in the process. Bahar Nihal Ersözlü was born in İstanbul in 1981. She received her BA in Media and Communication Systems from İstanbul Bilgi University. She is a founder of Budalasultan where she contributed as a writer in their first piece Kandilli Türbe Çıkmazı and as devising performer in their second, Kara Düzen. She is also a published poet and a t’ai chi ch’uan teacher in the yang style. She worked extensively in publishing and currently works as event director for Open Studio. Show less
