Orange Aqua specializes in designing and advising clients on water treatment facilities, particularly for aquaculture systems, and offers support to clients throughout Europe in addressing technical, financial, and ecological challenges. I have been tasked with helping to construct a trout hatchery in Georgia that utilizes advanced sensor technology to monitor and control its recirculating aquaculture system (RAS). The goal of this 4.5 million euro project, which involves multiple parties such as the Netherlands RvO, the Georgian government, and business people, is to produce 6 million fingerlings each year. My responsibilities include: • Providing expert advice on the appropriate size, type, and capacity of RAS components, including solid capture units, biofilter units, oxygenation units, etc. • Evaluating the capital and operational costs of the RAS business. • Recommending the optimal water flow system for the RAS, including the sizing and placement of pipes, pumps, and sump capacity. • Illustrating the RAS plant, including the piping system, using SketchUp and pipeEng. • Creating CAD drawings of the RAS unit using Autodesk Inventor for CNC production. • Designing and programming the control and monitoring systems for the hatchery, including the placement of water quality sensors, using Siemens TIA Portal. • Developing the human-machine interface (HMI) of the hatchery control system in TIA Portal.
