When I was 12 years old, a Dean at my Junior High School recommended that I sign up for a choir class taught by Dr. Desmond. This suggestion seemed unusual, but I took the Dean's recommendation. It was in this choir class, that Dr. Desmond instructed us to sway while we were singing songs and to put our corresponding hand out at the end of each sway. At 12 years old the boys, including myself, found this a little awkward. To compound this awkwardness, Dr. Desmond instructed, "when you sway to the side and put your hand out, Put it out there! You are a Professional." Every class meeting Dr. Desmond became known for saying "Put it out there! You are a Professional." Myself and classmates chuckled and joked with each other during the school days by saying to each other, "you're a professional, put it out there". It was well after that experience did I truly learn what Dr. Desmond was teaching. If you volunteer to do something, anything, you are a professional, put it out there. For example, if you applied for and received employment as a dishwasher at a restaurant, then you are a professional dishwasher. Put it out there. To put it differently, you volunteer by arriving to work, then commit to and perform your given task as a professional and handle yourself in the appropriate professional manner, because you are a Professional. My role at the Glass House Dallas Residential Community assisted and informed both community residents, potential residents, and visitors about experiencing The Glass House property as well as, surrounding area attractions, events, dining, entertainment, shopping, and more. Additionally, my role included the active monitoring, operating, and maintaining of sophisticated protocol and software that included resident interaction, access, community amenities, property management, security, and fire safety systems. Furthermore, my role coordinated a wide spectrum of tenant and management interactions including maintenance, guest access, delivery, and transportation requests in a timely manner with attention to detail, follow through and follow up. Along with the site manager, I helped cultivate, train, and maintain a desirable, professional, luxurious atmosphere that went from 3 tenants at our start, to over 320 during our tenure. I received accolades from The Glass House Dallas developer, Wood Partners Dallas Office Director, C. Todd MCCulloch for my performance and he cited his office's independent tenant reviews. Show less
