As technology and business processes evolve, older systems may become outdated and unable to manage the demands of the organization. Modernizing these systems can help to streamline processes and improve performance, resulting in cost savings and increased productivity. In addition to increased efficiency, modernizing existing IT systems can also improve security. As technology advances, new threats emerge, and older systems may not have the necessary security measures in place to protect against these threats. Modernizing systems can help to ensure that the organization's data and assets are protected against cyber-attacks and other security breaches. The main aim of Bruno was to help in the creation of software recognizing and offering solutions against monolithic IT systems. As a software developer, Bruno was able to design new interfaces and systems on the platform that utilize various graphs, enabling the end user to have a clearer visual representation of the complexity of the code, thereby expanding the potential for future upgrades to any existing system. All the interfaces were made using Java and Thymeleaf processing, with JavaScript (jQuery) running in the background to ensure communication between the front and back end. Bruno was also in charge of deploying SonarQube to ensure the good quality of the code of the developer team. This assignment allowed Bruno to gain experience in code testing, but also supervising the deployment of the produced software into an Amazon Web Service cloud. Show less

Jan 2019 - Dec 2022
As the lead developer and founder of MedicFollow, Bruno was creating a cutting-edge platform that will revolutionize the way medical staff and patients' families communicate. MedicFollow, which will be available on both mobile and the web, is currently under development and will greatly improve the efficiency and accessibility of medical communication. The main challenge for Bruno was being able to develop a software solution that is giving more time for the doctors to consult while keeping this sacred link for the families that is communication. Making things too complex would end in making communication even harder, and ultimately, would make the project fail. From the very start of 2019, everything had to be planned accurately, from the first’s visuals to the business models and the ways to promote the project. Bruno had to learn how to deal with a start-up and all its inconveniences, regulating the work of all the members, monitoring any conflicts, and making sure every meeting would be constructive as some of the members were lacking commitment/motivation over time. As Bruno was a founder like the other members of the group, but he was the most organized, responsible, and hardworking person in the group, he fastly became the one to organize all the meetings, but also the one to go to the front of the public during presentations. Often in start-ups, being a good communicative person is the only requested perk. Bruno was also a software developer and had to work on multiple tasks and phases of the project: Creating the first visuals of the mobile application using Flutter, and later on developing two applications for Android and IOS using Kotlin and Swift. Creating a first web application using Django as a Mock-up, later on, to recreate a better version of this application using Vue.js. Testing languages, and features, and stopping the development to use later on another language would allow better UI/UX, more stability, and more updates. Show less

The main challenge during this internship was to fully automate a process that was previously accomplished with paper bills and handwriting. A digital copy of the bills was first needed from the customer, and then, a program was analyzing all bills, extracted all necessary information, exported them to a specific format, and finally imported that information into the Financing Management Software. Once such a system would be put in place, less time would be taken by the Financing team to take care of the data, but most importantly, fewer errors would occur in the treatment of the data. In this organization, Bruno had the role of a Software developer, he oversaw estimating the necessary time to answer an IT-requiring problem. Once the requirements were established, Bruno had to structure and plan the architecture of the software he would later create with the aim of automating the billing process of AJHOME customers. The creation of this software, including its successful deployment and testing, took around 2 months and a half using the language Python. Some other issues had to be resolved in the process as the company was using platforms like Prestashop, Bruno had to create a module for this CMS to ensure the bills were created in a unique format that could be read by the main software. During the 6 months of his internship, Bruno had the opportunity to work as a front-end developer, creating new visuals for existing websites, and making sure the content was SEO friendly, responsive on all platforms, and multi-lingual. Most of the websites were done with Prestashop and WordPress, two CMS which do not require much code to be maintained, Bruno trained many soft skills during this first experience, making sure all UI/UX would be great, keeping a working environment clean, optimized, and dynamic. This professional the introduction also helped Bruno to see how any front-end environment would not be only composed of a running website, but also logisticians, designers, data managers, and legal responsible workers. The first problem of this internship was to give support on the visuals and maintenance of all the websites that the company was using, either for selling or just “exposing” purposes. The company's aim was to extend the number of websites from 10 existing but needing a visual refresh, to a total of 25 websites fully maintained and operational. Operating a clothing website can require some time, as keeping stocks, availability, visuals and many other variables up to date are tasks that are not fully automated on some CMS like Prestashop for example. So, keeping 30 websites up to date was quite a challenge for Bruno. Inside the company, a Senior developer was supposed to monitor the progress of Bruno, but due to an accident, Bruno had to work alone, learn by himself and be autonomous during 90% of the internship. This absence also led Bruno to take care of other tasks while the primary ones were done: Participating in the photography shootings for products, making all pictures look good in Adobe Photoshop, Supporting the logistics teams by counting the stocks and helping in the creation of new Terms of Use for the company respecting all new GDPR rules, following the guidance of a Legal and Responsible worker.
