Practicum students are responsible to submit an observation journal at the end of each week, describing, analyzing, and reflecting on that weeks practicum experience. Along with the formal observations and reflective journals, practicum students are required to submit a unit plan composed of 6 lessons with enrichment, extension, and modified activities to meet the needs of all students in the class.

Webster University Student Literacy Corps has provided me with an opportunity to help new and struggling readers increase their literacy and academic skills through one on one tutoring. At the New American Preparatory Academy (NAPA), children from 23 countries speaking 18 different languages come together to study. I work with K, 3rd, 4th, 7th, and 8th grade students.I have also served as a teachers assistant for the Saint Louis Public School's (SLPS) Summer 2014 Program at Mason Elementary. The theme of the program was the 250th Birthday of St. Louis. Reading, math, and social studies lessons and concepts were based on this central theme. I was present with the students daily and assisted the teacher is all aspects of classroom management, including recess duty, lunch duty, field trips, and other daily routines. It has provided me with an overall meaningful teaching and community service experience.
