Nishant Rukhaiyar

There are people, whose arrival are preceded by drumbeats. Ayush was among such people, we were told that he is the topper among the interns hired by our organization that year. And we should consider ourselves lucky that he is allocated to our team. In the coming days he proved every word correct. Ayush not only lived up to those natural expectation from a topper, but went beyond to prove that he much more than a topper. I have had the privilege to guide him in his internship project and that was just the beginning of a wonderful journey together. To be honest, the internship assigned to him was not up to his level, but then we always find a way to compensate that and the opportunity came the very next season when a new intern was assigned to me and I sought Ayush to join the band as we planned to create something right from ideation till deployment. I am not a developer myself and I certainly needed someone to guide the intern with intricate development technique and pass over the idea in the language of a coder. Ayush was always available to help me after he was done with his own and joined us as full time capacity. We both shared a very deep understanding and it was always easy for me to explain what is it, I am intending to make. He was not only a good listener, but also and critique whose feedback had the weight of pragmatic thought process, creative articulation and above all futuristic approach in terms of avoiding trouble and making a difference. This is not a place where I can divulge the details of the project. But, in a nut shell I would say it was his presence which made the difference between failure and success of a project which was vulnerable and prone to rejection at every stage of evolution. After his internship we both found ourselves sailing on the same boat and worked on few more projects which were in mission critical mode. It was his wisdom, patience and never give up attitude which made things easy. For me having someone so young and yet so mature in a team was a rare thing. All his virtues could not be found even with most of highly skilled and experienced professionals. How come someone be so calm in the midst of a crisis and convincing enough to make all the stake holder cool?. These are the qualities which are not loud and his composed personality very well conceals most of them. Not to forget that he has an extraordinary style of email communication which not only reassuring but also elegant and graceful. Very few have ability to compose such emails on a subjects under crisis. His emails were not only to appraise stakeholders about the situation but also instill confidence among them, that we will overcome it. His emails never carried hollow or shallow commitments without a basis and his articulations are always on the basis of solid facts. I feel lucky to have worked with him, and delighted to say that I have learnt a lot from him. I wonder at the end who mentored whom?
