In my profession as a Psychiatric Nurse Specialist includes making assessments of patients'​ mental health, make screens to get more information about the patient's psychiatric background, this is to give the right care / diagnostics, have booked counseling with patients to find strategies to motivate them to accept care and medication. Iam also very involved in the clinic's development efforts to improve care.Part of the work involves our program for treatment of heroine addiction and other opiate dependence. This includes frequent and regular meetings with patients to support their treatment. This involves treatment with medications such as buprenorphine and methadone. It also involves individual counselling and regular health checks of patients through blood and urine samples. Other important parts of the work including both individually and together with co-workers counselling, primarily for the prevention of relapse in addiction. This is done individually and in groups. Also meeting patients of motivating and supportive nature often occur and is an important part of the work.

The work includes caring for patients´ physical needs, engaging in conversation with patients and, when needed, finding strategies to motivate them to accept care and medication.The tasks are also participating in treatment conferences, drug testing, medication sharing, taking blood samples, performing ECG and training staff in CPR. Iam nursing student supervisor, mentoring inexperienced staff.and is also elected union representative.
