The work consists of simulating accidents where heavy loads hit a forklift’s roof from high up. The thesis contains mechanical design, experiments, material testing, and numerical modelling where the latter is done using Altair’s finite-element program Radioss. During the summer job as a structural analysis engineer in solid mechanics I performed buckling analyses of panel structures for aircraft, with the use of a finite-element program. I did a parametric study and derived empirical expressions for dimensioning stiffeners in panel structures against global buckling. I hosted teaching classes for about 40 undergraduate students from the mechanical engineering program, in the course Solid Mechanics – Design Criteria, which mainly touched areas such as fracture mechanics, fatigue, vibrational analysis and energy methods. I was also responsible for correcting reports regarding a computational assignment of 1.5 credits. I have also previously worked for Linköping University alongside my studies. My tasks then consisted of hosting laboratory work regarding tensile tests in the course engineering materials for undergraduate students in year two of the mechanical engineering program. My tasks at Biltema encompassed working as a cashier, stocking goods in the store, helping customers and dealing with customer service issues such as complaints and refunds. It was very educational to work with service in a large store since it meant a high work pace where I further learnt how to handle stress and how to provide a high level of service. I have worked within elderly care with home care services during three summers and additionally as extra work not during the summer period. The work has given me knowledge of how to assist and care for the elderly and it has given me an insight into aging and life conditions for old people. I enjoyed this work since it felt meaningful being able to help people who could not manage all things for themselves. Working in the home care service taught me a great deal about service but also how do deal with stress in tough situations. Show less

The work at Euroform was highly educational and interesting. Euroform manufactures plastic components and is a sub supplier to several major Swedish companies such as Husqvarna, Volvo and Scania. My job was mainly to operate injection moulding machines and to check the quality of the products. During the five months that I worked there I picked up many useful experiences and insights regarding several aspects of a manufacturing industry such as production, work environment, material flows and quality work.
