Thesis Subject: Flow Sensing using Thermal Sigma-Delta Modulation - Designing a novel flow sensor architecture using a time-multiplexed resistor-based flow sensor with a thermal sigma-delta readout. The design uses the sensor mass as the first "passive" integrator in a higher-order sigma-delta loop resulting in a direct digital output representing flow. - Modelling Thermal Mass properties. - Using Cadence Virtuoso to do system-level simulations of the proposed ADC architecture. - Designing and testing the prototype architecture using discrete components. - Analysed and identified potential opportunities for automation in the trade reconciliation process to reduce financial risk and save man-hours.- Worked on automation of reconciliation of the two largest trading accounts in the firm. Resulted in a time save of 3 hours every day—a reduction in risk due to manual reconciliation.- Prevented regulatory impact/PNL impact by reconciling the client’s ledger and the firm’s ledger to identify, report and assist in resolving any discrepancies. Resulted in improving the firm’s financial liquidity.- Managed stakeholder interests and translated high-level requirements into implementation-level details. Show less

- Modelled, Developed and Deployed an Alteryx canvas to quantitatively define the risk posed to the firm at the back of failed trades.- Indexed and Optimized the database used by the team. The data sourcing time was reduced from 8 minutes to 45 seconds for a data set.

The project is a collaboration between Manipal University and Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The project aims to design and fabricate a 2U class Nano-Satellite with a Thermal Imaging Camera as its primary payload and a novel Electrodynamic Tether for Deorbiting as a secondary payload.I led the team and the project in multiple design reviews with ISRO scientists and cleared it. Interacted with authorities and scientists in ISRO to validate and test our systems in the ISRO facility. The tasks performed while leading a team of 31 members include: Characterization and design of the motor-flywheel assembly for Attitude control of the satellite. End-to-end PCB/Schematic development, assembly, and prototype testing for the motor flywheel assembly.- Interfaced and Evaluated the onboard sensors: the magnetometer, gyroscope, sun sensor, andtemperature sensors.- Designed, assembled, and performed prototype testing of the satellite’s PCBs comprising embedded architecture to control various payloads, power, communication and sensors. Worked on the development of the firmware architecture of the satellite. The test results were successfully vetted and approved by scientists at ISRO.- Design of Experiment to understand the influence of a BLDC motor on an external magnetometer reading. Evaluated the results and worked on the design of filters to eliminate the same.- Documentation of the preliminary design review of the satellite, including finalization of the mass and power budgets. Reviewed by a panel of ISRO scientists during Qualification Model Testing.- Assisted in integrating the satellite for the Qualification Model and the Flight Model. The model successfully passed the functional testing at the ISRO facility, URSC. Show less

Payload subsystem is responsible for faultless functioning of the onboard camera and the Deorbit-ing system. The tasks undertaken by me include:- Performed image processing of thermal images, the pseudo colouring of greyscale thermal images, blind deblurring using dark channel priors and segmentation to allow for object recognition.- Tested and calibrated the Thermal Imaging Camera, FLIR TAU 2 640.- Reviewed and updated the novel passive deorbiting system used onboard the satellite. Performed simulations on MATLAB for characterization of deorbiting parameters. Developed simulations on C++ to characterize the forces acting on the satellite during the ejection of the novel deorbiting mechanism and proposed a control system to mitigate the disturbance Show less

Topic: Measurement of Residual Stress on welded joints using Non-Destructive techniques - Analyzed and Concluded the residual stress pattern at the interface of two welded plates of 700-MC Steel. The results indicated the stress profile is independent of different wire types used for welding in longitudinal and transverse directions. The stress profile in the transverse direction depended on the clamping forces used. - Researched and Presented the methods of measuring residual stress in a material, primarily focusing on Non-Destructive methods of testing. - Tested the use of X-Rays for measuring residual stress at the interface of welded joints using the novel cos α method.
