  StockSnips is a US based company founded by world-class computer/data scientists and financial experts to convert finanical news into stock market sentiment to guide investment strategies for investors. I built web-scrapers in Python to scrape Reddit, the Motley Fool, Zacks, and the SEC for financial data. Using Linux, Python and SQL, I converted this data into an accessible format and filtered the scrapers to update the database on an hourly basis. Using Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing, I evaluted two industry standard tools for Named Entity Recognition, Stanford NER and Spacy.io. Determing Spacy.io was the best fit for our needs, I trained a NER model using Transfer Learning onto the existing Spacy Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), training based off our custom collected data and validating the final model results on the data being scraped from Reddit.
