Personal assistant for a man with severe mental and physical handicap. I was this man’s personal assistant for the last 5 years of his life. I felt a strong commitment for his care. During this time, I learnt a lot about the extreme need of people with social, physical and mental disabilities. It was probably a part of the reason why I choose psychology. I also got a close insight in to the healthcare system with such a patient. Personal assistant for a man with severe mental and physical handicap. When I was 14, I began to train children in my swimming clubs Hudiksvalls Simsällskap in Hudiksvall and Polisens IF in Stockholm. I did this for 5 years. I also trained kids with special needs which grew my interest in people and their particular needs. I went on to work as a preschool teacher at Farkostens Förskola at Lidingö. In addition to working as an extra resource for the teachers I also attended the psychology team.
