      Marine Survey- Examine Marine vessels to assess condition of their structure, machinery and equipment. As a Contracting Officer Representative (COR), develop project requirements and ensure during contract administration the contractor meet the commitments of their contracts including the timeliness and delivery of quality goods and services as required by the contract. Specific Duty to include Marine Surveyor/Contracting Officer Representative (COR) for the FSS Altair & Bellatrix in New Orleans, LA. Primary responsibility is to interface with the Contractor and ensure that the ship assigned to me are maintained as per MARAD Ship-management Contract between the Government and the Contractor. I consider this as an important responsibility because I’m the eyes and the ears of the Contracting Officer for the Contract and at the forefront of the ships’ operations and maintenance. Presently, I’m assigned with two Fast Sealift Ships, capable to achieve a top speed of 30 knots with cargo capacity. My primary responsibility is that ships are maintained in good condition and ready for sea within the stipulated time of 120 hours after activation notification. In a nutshell, my job responsibility is Ship-management Contract oversight and give feedback to the contractor for continues improvement to achieve the desired results. Thus, I conduct thorough and extensive surveys and inspections of the ships I’m assigned. I ensure planned maintenance and repairs are completed and document in timely manner. I attend Sea Trial, noting deficiencies and ensure all ABS regulatory requirements are met. I attend and monitor Dry Docking and Sea Trial evolutions. The FSSs have an annual budget of approximately over 6 million dollars and I review and pay these invoices.
