Ambassador Animal Interns work alongside staff in all aspects of animal husbandry, enrichment, operant conditioning techniques, and presenting animals to the public in a safe and professional manner. As interns gain experience, they may have the opportunity to assist with basic behavioral maintenance for birds, mammals, and reptiles. All contact with animals is contingent upon trainer approval and intern performance. Interns may also work on assigned projects including behavioral observations, data collection, enrichment initiatives, and animal presentation development.Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to food preparation, habitat maintenance, daily and weekly cleaning tasks, public presentations, daily enrichment, and daily animal observations.
