Law Clerk - Phoenix Central / South Mountain Trials Bureau
-
Aug 2022 - Present
Experienced a great number of exceptionally formative moments with the well-seasoned Attonerys who are part and parcel to the success of this office as well as this particular bureau. One of the greatest takeaways was the learned perspective of precisely what it means to be a DCA in Maricopa County and elsewhere, that is, what is required from the standpoints both of work ethic and integrity. Beyond learning how to apply and argue ARS Statues, I learned the Arizona Rules of Criminal Procedures as well. Most of my learning came from observing the adjudication process of the caseload tried and heard inside Maricopa County Superior Courts, both pre- and post-conviction; besides writing motions, writing internal memorandums of law, reviewing basket submittals, listening to jail calls, helping compile trial notebooks, helping staff charging-decisions, and much more. Summer Law Clerk — Specialized Prosection Division (Vehicular Crim. Bureau, CAPLIT, FMV, Sex Crimes)
-
May 2023 - Aug 2023
Contributed to the processing of Rule 11 evals for Capital Litigation cases, plus assisted with the bts work for civil commitment of SVPs assigned to the same CAPLIT DCA as well. For Vehicular, I’ve attended “call-outs” for fatal DUIs and I’ve provided clerical assistance for “FastTrack” DUI cases.

Law Clerk - Civil Services Division
-
Sep 2022 - Aug 2023
Chosen to work an important project involving a “celebrity defendant” from Arizona’s past, Jodi Arias. Public-Record materials release, unless exempt under law, in part or in their totality. This meant peering through files upon files of materials, then preparing all of them, which was usually done with redactions pursuant to law. That went for, both, the “paper-based” materials and the “AV” (audio, video) materials. Although tons of work, I’ve completed numerous materials belonging to each category. Show less
