I assess industry-wide life insurance sales by way of periodic benchmarking surveys. My team collects detailed sales information from insurance carriers and generates two types of reports: high-level summaries that are available to all LIMRA members, and by-company results available to participants only. In particular, I support our Individual Life Insurance Sales survey, and I manage our Individual Life Combination Products and Individual Long Term Care surveys. Studied the process of segmentation during development in arthropods. Maintained a colony of red flour beetles (Tribolium castaneum) and harvested beetle embryos for experimentation. Visualized cell division and gene expression and conducted cell counts in beetle embryos at different stages in their development. Studied human perception of abstracted human motion. Converted videos of real human motion to short clips of abstracted human motion, seen as a series of moving dots with each dot tracing the movement of a joint on the human body. Conducted a small study with volunteers to test their ability to obtain useful information about the motion being performed in the video solely based on their viewing of the abstracted, point-light clip.
