During my time at Dukhan English School I have furthered myself in experience of teaching children that speak English as an additional language. EAL students make up more than 90% of our school from Pre-K to Year 13. I have been teaching from Reception to Year 13 inclusive, including GCSE PE.From June 2015 I was made responsible for Sports Leadership, Rugby development as well as taking on a whole school responsibility for extra-curricular learning. I have enjoyed great success here with sports teams in basketball, football, athletics and swimming. I lead a vast array of extra-curricular sports clubs myself, and have recently become involved in community links for sport in our local recreation centre.Dukhan is a close-knit community where colleagues and friends live and work alongside one another on a daily basis. It's important therefore that one has respect for the local community. I joined our local golf club in an effort to learn a new sport, and I am slowly hacking away at my handicap.Qatar is a fascinating place, a rapidly developing, oil and gas rich, country that has high aspirations in a global market. Qatar Petroleum itself is determined to be a world leader in supplying Oil and Gas, as well as "Providing a World-Class education for all" at its schools.

This was my first international post. I was employed at Tianjin REGO International School as Head of PE. My responsibilities included the teaching of swimming and PE across the school from Nursery to Year 13. Additional responsibilities included:Entering and competing in the International Schools Conference of Tianjin (ISCOT) system. ISCOT consisted of 6 International Schools.Within ISCOT, we hosted the Swimming Gala, Middle School Table Tennis, Primary Boys Football, Senior Girls Football, Upper School Basketball and Chess competitions.Organised schemes of work and assessment of pupils (none were in place upon my arrival in August 2013)Year 12 Form TutorResidential Trip to Qingdao for the ISCOT Champion Swimming SquadHead of School House System and CompetitionsHead of Phoenix HouseI thoroughly enjoyed my time living and working in Tianjin, and China remains a very special place to me. However during this academic year, it became evident that the school was brought with financial difficulties. Pay was often late, or as in the end, did not come at all. For the sake of my students, I saw through the year before moving onto a more stable and reliable employment. The school was permanently closed in 2014.

    • Key Stage Three Coordinator for Physical Education
      • Jul 2006 - Aug 2011

I started my NQT Year at All Saints in 2006, and completing it in 2007.In 2009 I was promoted to KS3 Coordinator for Physical Education, implementing the changes made to the National Curriculum in 2008. I believe the frameworks I put in place allowed our students to make more than adequate progress during the Key Stage, and prepared them appropriately for GCSE study.Simultaneously I was involved in the set-up and delivery of our Young Leaders and Sports Leaders programme. We started delivering the courses in 2009 with the ultimate goal of providing our feeder schools and the wider community people who would use sport as a vehicle to create a better place to live and work. We shocked ourselves with how popular and successful the initiative would become with students from the school regularly being asked to volunteer at the School Games, London Youth Games and London Borough of Barking and Dagenham sports events. One student even went on to become an AdiStar AmbassadorThroughout my five years here, I had great success with teams and individuals in a variety of sports. My most notable personal honour came when I, among others, was awarded Carnegie Schools Teacher of the Year in 2011 by Harlequins RFL for outstanding work in developing the sport in East London.
