I have known Austin now for a few years. I first meet him when he was a student in three of my classes at the Colorado School of Mines. He impressed me in those classes with his willingness to learn and his questioning of material and how it would apply in the real world. After those classes, we kept in touch and a followed him through his early jobs. Even through the downturns, he kept a good attitude and was able to find work and branch out into new and different fields. Austin returned to Mines to work on a Master's degree and I jumped at the chance to have him as a Teaching Assistant for a summer field related class. Again, Austin impressed me with his work ethic and good attitude and willingness to get the job done. Austin has the academic background, work ethic, and correct attitude to preserve and excel in any petroleum related field.

Austin responded very well to fast paced learning environment of Schlumberger Field Engineer trainee. He is a quick learner. This allowed him to take on the responsibilities of standalone wellsite engineer during his training days. He adapts well to changes evident from his responses to last minute changes in schedule, assignment, team or working conditions. His commitment to excellence stands out as his most impressive quality to me. He is always looking for opportunities to improve himself, seeking feedback and listening intently to all suggestions. It has been a great experience working with Austin and I wish him good luck for a bright future ahead.
