Austin is a very savvy engineer, with the heart of an entrepreneur. He was always able to think through a problem and determine a very well created solution. In my experience working with Austin, he is a great team-player who can motivate and execute on his work/goals. He is very creative, dependable, and just a really great person to work with. If you are ever considering Austin for your team, you won't regret your decision to welcome him in!
Mark Porter
Austin is an exceptional engineer and an absolute gem of a teammate. As the product manager on his team, I've had continuous opportunities to work with him in breaking down company and team objectives into clearly definable and measurable projects and action items, and then watch him lead the team in delivering on those objectives. He is not only quick to catch the product vision, but he works collaboratively to ensure the vision makes sense from a technical standpoint and that the work of the team is fully aligned with that vision, He then makes himself an evangelist for that vision, helping to maintain clarity and transparency throughout not only his team but with other relevant stakeholders as well, and he always keeps the user at the center of his purpose and efforts. He is always willing to share his perspective, even if it seems niche or even contrary, and he continually elicits the perspectives of others in order to ensure the best decision is made for the greatest good, and he never fails to express gratitude for others' contributions. To say my professional life has benefitted deeply from working with him would be a gross understatement.

I was hired as a manager of software engineering/team lead, specifically over our client-facing products. The company is a startup, and immediately after getting hired, the company had a massive need to get its data cleaned up. A few other engineers and I had database experience, so we volunteered to take on the project of cleaning up the data. This responsibility was outside what I was hired to do, but I was happy to do it, and the company needed it done. A few other engineers and I had database experience, so we volunteered to take on the project of cleaning up the data. This responsibility was outside what I was hired to do, but I was happy to do it, and the company needed it done. We were able to clean up four major databases with 100,000+ rows of data. We were able to merge data from spreadsheets and other databases into one single source of truth without having any outages or corruption of data. Our team saved the company and allowed another team to get hired and trained to take the project over so we could go back to doing product engineering. I have taken several opportunities to lead many high impacting projects. These projects have ranged from taking our website and converting it into a PWA that works exceptionally well on mobile devices all the way to getting off flash and using WebRTC for our video streaming. Both of these projects allowed me to dive into cutting edge technologies such as WebRTC, MediaDevices, web notifications, sockets, and offline functionality that gave our application an amazing experience for both clients… Show more I have taken several opportunities to lead many high impacting projects. I loved seeing these projects have a direct impact on the company's revenue. Show less I have taken several opportunities to lead many high impacting projects. Coming to Career Step has been a fun adventure. My core role is to help transition the legacy code from PHP to a clean separated backend/front end setup. The stack of choice is the MEAN stack with the M being MySql. The server will be a pure REST API server allowing the company to start expanding into the mobile realm. By transitioning the company to a pure Javascript stack will allow the developers to be able to quickly jump into any area. Coming to Career Step has been a fun adventure. Since being at NuSkin I have been privileged to lead the development on several web and mobile applications. The largest application I led was Volumes and Genealogy. We were tasked to take an application that had been around for 16 years and rewrite it from the ground up using modern tools such as angular. The application's purpose is to give distributors a place to go and see how they are doing and their downline. The rewrite took a year to complete and was recognized by the entire company as the new standard to write web applications. During this time NuSkin made moves towards having a mobile version of Volumes and Genealogy. I was able to play a big role in evangelizing and teaching developers about Ionic. Now all mobile apps done by NuSkin are Hybrid Ionic/Cordova apps. By using Ionic/Cordova we were able to save the company hundreds of thousands of dollars. We were able to develop for iOS and Android with one code base and we were able to have our current web developers build them out without having to hire new employees. I am both a Front End and Back End developer. So far, my most notable accomplishment while working for Kingsley Management has been developing out their entire Human Resource System. This tool also has a limited view to anyone within the company who does not have advanced rights. My projects with ICS were done on the website LDS.org. My responsibilities were to keep the site bug free and to develop new innovative ways of searching through mass amounts of information and delivering that information to the user quickly. Another responsibility was to be able to take information from the users and to store the information in a manner where it could be retrieved quickly.
