I worked with Austen closely in the SRE space at Rocket Mortgage (One of the engineering teams reporting directly to me). Austen is a true engineering professional. Austen can work across all levels of a technology distilling complex technical problems into clear tech/team objectives - which makes him a true SRE SME! Austen is diligent and thorough and can always be relied upon to get the work done. Austen is articulate and is comfortable in both the SDE/SRE roles. Austen was part of my SRE team responsible for ensuring the site reliability of our Rocket Pro TPO's application supporting mortgage brokers, community banks and credit unions, with a 2022 revenue ~$26.6 million. I cannot recommend Austen highly enough. He would be a great asset to any team as a SSDE or SRE!

Third Party Originations platform (TPO) Site Relibility Engineering team Provided our partners on TPO with a great and reliable experience. Created tooling, and infrastructure to improve the development experience and productivity of our product engineering teams. Full stack engineer: • Front-end: Angular, micro-frontend architecture, e2e cypress test automation • BFF: Node, NestJS, PHP • Backend: ASP.NET, Dotnet Core • Database: SQL Server, Postgresql, MySQL • DevOps: Agile Scrum/Kanban, GitHub, CircleCI, Terraform, Azure DevOps, Dynatrace, Snyk, SonarQube, proprietary deployment system Responsibilities: Delivered new business features to many of our Angular, Dotnet core and NestJS applications. I also ensured that the business ran smoothly by identifying issues and implementing them in our PHP, C#, Angular and NestJS applications. Resolved tech incidents and brought them to a quick resolution while supporting our blameless incident process. Implemented Dynatrace across the main product that we support, the TPO partner portal. Implemented quality gates for application quality, reliability and development best practices. Provided Instruction and mentoring to internal teams about performance testing and ensured that potential problem areas were fixed. Participated in design reviews for new systems and features to ensure that these were being built with to align with quality and reliability enterprise standards. Worked with internal teams when applications did not meet their targets for uptime and reliability to correct problem areas. Created standards around SLIs and SLOs for our applications. Created Dynatrace SLIs and SLOs for core areas of our business and ensured that applications met these goals through performance and Chaos testing. Right sized AWS costs for our infrastructure.
