I am passing on my strongest and most sincere recommendations of Aukje Lepoutre Ravn who was part of my team, working as a curator and director of Tranen Contemporary Art Centre as well as Art Consultant of Municipality of Gentofte from February 2010 to February 2014. Tranen Contemporary Art Centre is a non-profit art institution founded in 1970, focusing on new and experimental art from Denmark as well as the international art scene. Thanks to Aukje Lepoutre Ravn’s extremely high level of professionalism and passionately dedicated work, Tranen recovered its position as a legendary contemporary art space. In the course of the four years she worked with us, Aukje managed to regain Tranen’s former position as an influential and respected art institution, presenting a diversity of new tendencies in contemporary art on a high artistic level. Moreover, Aukje also succeeded in transforming the old and well know exhibition place into an open platform for debate and reflections on contemporary art in general. Situated at Gentofte Central Library, Tranen has more than 500.000 annual visitors, thus making it quite a unique platform with a potential to enrich and inspire a broad variety of audiences and not only a narrow and dedicated crowd of art connoisseurs. Aukje embraced this versatility and kept reaching out to the audience – always reinventing the concept of art communication. Tranen has never been able to co-finance its productions. As a consequence hereof, Aukje’s solid skills, knowledge and many talents in regards to funding were simply indispensable. She successfully managed to fundraise a wide range of exhibitions, festivals, artist talks, art books, performances and seminars during her time in Gentofte. As the Art Consultant of Municipality of Gentofte, Aukje overlooked the collections of more than 3.000 art works, planning the preservation of the works and presented them to the public in new and innovative ways. She was involved whenever art was a part of urban renewal and she acted as a consultant to architects, colleagues and citizens in any matters concerning art. Even though Aukje is the most talented curator and director I have ever worked it strikes me, as I write this, that, probably, her biggest strength is her captivating personality: Professional, calm, charismatic and a team player from the word go with a great sense of humour. An absolute joy to work with! Do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Stine Wilms Høyer Head of the Culture Department Munipucality of Gentofte, Denmark
