      • Jul 2022 - Present

As a Foster Care Advocate for Nightlight Christian Adoptions I spend the majority of my time licensing, coordinating, and supporting the foster families on my caseload! The families I work with are incredible and I’m blessed to partner with them to care for foster kids in SC. My role includes orienting adults, both couples and singles, to the foster care system and the foster care program with Nightlight, training them on trauma-informed care, providing a home study, and supporting them as they become licensed foster parents and accept children and youth into their homes! Specifically, my position included co-facilitating group therapy, performing pscyhosocial assessments, completing family contacts, developing treatment plans, reviewing treatment goals with patients, discharge planning and referrals, and finally participation in weekly treatment team meetings. As a MSW intern, I assisted the Spartanburg D7 social worker with the case management of families recovering from homelessness through the McKinney Vento Act. Our team created a weekly food drive program for those families and I assisted with it's program coordination, marketing, and administration. I also occasionally assisted the staff members at the Spartanburg Opportunity Center with the case management of their clients seeking stable housing and employment. • Student Ministry and Care & Recovery Resident
      • Jul 2019 - Jul 2020

As a student ministry resident, my responsibilities included planning and executing weekly student programs and leadership opportunities for over 200 middle school students. In addition, I spent a large portion of my time building relational capital with students between the age of 10-18 years, mentoring them, equipping them, and helping them work through confrontational issues and personal struggles. Along with this responsibility, I worked with adult leaders and parents to equip them to disciple their students and build solid relationships. One of my favorite opportunities was my position as staff lead for a pilot recovery program for high school students with significant ACE scores. This program, called Re:Generation for Students, followed the structure of a 12-step recovery program and was based in biblical principles with advisement from licensed counselors. Through the residency program at Grace Church, I was also able to participate in weekly leadership development and personal strength-building coursework that included personality assessments, leadership qualities, theology, and various book studies. • Research Assistant
      • Jul 2018 - Jun 2019

In my position as a research assistant I contributed to a grant-funded research project on burnout and compassion fatigue among Prisma Health Upstate oncology nurses. I led younger undergraduate students as team lab manager and delegated responsibilities to the team as new jobs came to us. We developed research questions, conducted literature reviews on nurse stress interventions, collected primary data, and assisted in qualitative data analysis. Through our research we developed a 6-month pilot intervention with the oncology nurses that utilized heart rate variability biofeedback, personal journaling, and support group sessions with their colleagues. In June of 2019, three of us from the research team traveled to San Antonio, Texas to present the research findings at the National American Hospital Association Team Training Conference. Our research abstract was one of six chosen projects to be presented out of 60 applicants. Show less

As a Business Health intern I gained exposure to opportunities within field of health education and promotion and this helped me understand the shift towards wellness and disease prevention in the Public Health sphere. My day to day schedule included observing wellness programs, pop-up classes, health coaching, and corporate wellness meetings. Additionally, I was able to collect experience assisting with company health screenings, program development, and educating clients in wellness classes. The Business Health Department offered classes such as a weight loss program based in exercise and nutrition, a smoking cessation class, and class on mental wellness tips and tricks. The department partnered with businesses all over the upstate of South Carolina, including ScanSource, Bradshaw Automotive Group, Furman University, Bob Jones University, and employees of Greenville Health System (now Prisma Health).
