As a Planetarium Program Presenter, I am responsible for running the planetarium, presenting shows, and working on projects for the museum in my department. I have the privilege of standing before enthusiastic audiences, sharing my profound love of astronomy, and making complex concepts accessible to everyone. This summer, I wrote and produced my own show, “The Sky Tonight”, which will be shown at the Lynn Planetarium through September. Using Audacity, ATM-4, and Starry Night 7, I created a show to communicate science on a broad level and teach astronomy to everyone ranging from preschoolers to grandparents. Topics covered range from backyard astronomy to deep-space objects like nebulae and black holes. “The Sky Tonight” is viewed by over 2,500 guests per season, making it a significant source of attraction for Schiele Museum guests. I helped facilitate several telescope nights in which guests are invited to sit in a live star show before moving to the roof to learn more about astronomy and using telescopes. Moreover, I regularly aid in planetarium maintenance, with experience removing and reinstalling our two projectors, calibrating and blending the projection, and reformatting shows to be screened each season. I planned, budgeted, and facilitated three physics and chemistry summer camps for K-5 students. Show less
