Working at CCCT, I am able to work with a skilled team of RNs and lab techs that mean business. The clinic is always full of patients coming in for thier first chemo treatment and they might be a little scared or they might me coming for the very last treatment and are very happy. I get to mix the premeds and them the chemo depending on the labs for that day. The pateints are great and I love working with them. At Methodist, as a tech IV,I was trained in most areas of the pharmacy. A hospital pharmacy has many areas to learn. I was almost always scheduled to be in the IV compounding lab. The lab is run on a schedule and medications are done in batchs and then delivered by unit. The lab also does NICU TpN, adult and pedi TpN, chemos for pedi and adult oncology units. On top of being very busy with bacthed medication, the lab was also assighned STATs for codes and the ER. All trained IV sterile techs were also held to a high standard of cleanliness. In order to maintain you postion in the lab a tech must pass a course called Simplifi 797 and also an yearly finger tip bacteria test. I loved my job at Methodist. I took great pride in working there and knowing how important it was for me to be clean and knowlegable in my postion. I learned so very much working at Methodist.

Baptist was the first hospital pharmacy I has ever worked in. This is the pharmacy that I learned to compound in. Baptist had a NICU and needed TpN and a very small number of chemo. Mostly at this postion I was doing customer service. Charging pateints and crash carts, reponding to codes, doing surgery prep trays and refilling the narcotic download. This was a busy job but I really wanted more. I wanted to mix and do more then customer service. Baptist was the first hospital pharmacy I has ever worked in.
