Conducted a structural contact analysis between the eastern part of the Leon metamorphic complex and the sedimentary piles bordering the west part of the Visean basin of Morlaix. Internship for "Exhumation of metamorphic rocks and opening of sedimentary basin: application on Leon complex and carboniferous basin of Morlaix, Armorican massif, Structural approach onshore-offshore" Lead analysis with two complementary joint studies: (1) Constructed east-west structural cross sections in order to compare the style of ductile deformations registered by the metamorphic units (Leon) and series of Paleozoic sediments (Carboniferous included). Hints for extensive strains were expected. (2) Interpreted high-resolution bathymetric data (Lidar and multibeam sonar) recently acquired by IFREMER, showing exceptional marks of ductile and brittle deformations in the hercynian bedrocks, which form the offshore extension of the transition Leon-Basin of Morlaix. Compiled bibliographic study of the of Leon complex to understand overall structure. Final results established (1) no trace of major extensive deformations that could lead to a metamorphic core complex exhumation. (2) Large offshore scale deformations have been identified that could reveal an offshore extension of the regional shear fault. (3) Coherent structural schemes of onshore-offshore ductile deformations at the eastern extreme of the Leon’s metamorphic block were identified. The findings led to the proposal of a new geological interpretative map of the oriental edge of the Leon. Skills: - Ability to identify orientation using a compass and clinometer - Ability to identify variation in rock nature and deformations in metamorphic area from macroscopic to microscopic (thin section) scale - Ability to identify the nature of rocks, brittle and ductile deformations from ultra-high resolution bathymetric data using ArcGIS - Ability to collect and synthesize scientific articles - Time management Show less

Collaborated on the CoLiBrea Project, a multidisciplinary project aiming to understand the processes involved in the Contintental Lithospheric Breakup in East Africa. Conducted a study on a specific part of the east African rift, the north Tanzanian divergence. This region shows a unique transition in the expression of the mechanisms of continental rifting Analysed magneto-telluric, seismic (receiver function), and gravimetric data from two parallel EW geophysical profiles Analysed and interpreted each of the three data sets independently and conjointly for each of the two profiles Identified the difference in expression of the continental rifting by comparing those two profiles Skills: - Computing data from geophysical surveys to form graphs with Matlab - Creating 2D/3D topographic maps using GMT and Matlab - Calculating gravimetric anomalies, determining density using Nettleton method - Ability to interpret and synthesize results Show less
