Atul set up Four Quadrant Project Finance in 2011 to provide top quality, practitioner focused project finance training that can be delivered right to the desktop and which is available "on demand". Throughout his project finance career he had experienced first-hand the challenges of implementing "on the job" training for junior team members within the constraints set by time critical work commitments. He found this method of training to be unreliable and was convinced that there had to be a more structured and effective way to support and train junior staff. He also found that the default alternative, typically a short 2-3 day external course, to be helpful, but usually not comprehensive enough for practitioners. To solve this problem, Atul assembled a team to design and develop a number of comprehensive online training courses that would allow learners to learn at their own pace and feel supported and empowered throughout their learning journey. These courses include Project Finance Foundations, Mastering Project Finance Models, Modelling Financial Statements, Project Finance Primer, and Fundamentals of Wind Farm Development and Financing. Today, Four Quadrant’s courses are used by tier one law firms, banks, global accounting firms, fund managers, multilateral organisations, export credit agencies and project sponsors around the world. Jan 2005 - May 2007
Atul joined Mizuho to help it step up its market presence in Australia from a purchaser of syndicated loans and financier of Japanese clients to that of a Lead Arranger of project finance loans in the Australian market. He was involved in all aspects of deal origination, structuring, credit approval and documentation as a team leader and worked on numerous project finance transactions in the power, infrastructure and social infrastructure sectors. One of the highlights for him was structuring a AUD 1 billion "bridge to bond" facility for a major player in the Australian infrastructure space. During this period, he built up Mizuho's relationships with all the major banks, sponsors and advisers in the Australian market and successfully pitched for numerous lead arranging mandates. He was able to successfully change Mizuho's perception in the market and increased its acceptance as a Lead Arranger, particularly with non-Japanese clients. Show less
