  • Investigated the specificity, properties, and previous integration sites of a newly discovered mobile genetic element, named 'WHO10', found in the yeast species, Torulaspora globosa • Sequenced the genomes from strains of T. globosa with MinION technology to find WHO10 integration sites, search for a consensus cleavage sequence, and annotate flanking gene fragments to trace the history of the element • The study illuminated how the element has lost its site-specificity to become a mobile rather than homing genetic element, which may impact the structure, function, and evolution of the yeast genome Show less
