  Medical education in Iran is a seven and a half year program in which the last 18 months is Medical internship. As a medical intern, we see patients every day and engage in treating common conditions (like hypertension, diabetes, and uncomplicated infections). We also get to do simple medical procedures (like suturing, catheterizing, and inserting NG tubes). This experience has helped me use my medical knowledge, improve my communication skills, and prepare for my future job. Also, it has been an enriching experience since we get to play a role in reducing people's pain and be there for them in the time of their need.
