As a Social Worker I screen and assess voluntary intake requests, as well as requests for support from Child Protection workers working with the 7 First Nations NILTU,O provides services to. In this role I provide guardianship responsibilities to children in continuing care of the Director, which include providing support, and guidance, and advocating for children and youth in care. This includes planning, creating and facilitating various meetings with the children, youth, families and other stakeholders. As a Social Worker I have ensured to adhere the Aboriginal Operational and Practice Standards and Indicators, and the Child, Family and Community Services act. Family Support Worker

As a Family Support Worker I provided specialized support to families where a child protection concern may arise, youth in care, and caregivers. These supports ranged from providing preventative services for families with children, supporting parents to complete goals to have their children return to their care, supporting youth with life skills to ensure they have a smooth transition from foster care to independence. I ensured to focus on the children, youth and families strengths to create plans with Social Workers. While completing this work I maintained the files of the clients I was working with and kept up to date records, and maintained the confidentiality of the clients.
