Led team of 9-10 professionals to develop and implement program (through various projects, initiatives and activities) to improve quality of care and health outcomes for mothers and newborns in low-resource countries, as well as disadvantaged populations in Canada (aboriginal communities, refugees, etc.). Between 2007 and 2014, the International Women’s Health Program carried initiatives in the following countries: Guatemala, Haiti, Guyana, Uganda, Burkina Faso, Mali Senegal, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of Congo and Zimbabwe. Though effective leadership, achieved the following: Contributed to the improvement of quality of and access to maternal care and women's health services offered to women in low-resource settings, adapting expertise developed by society to serve targeted groups and populations. Built reputation and credibility of organization as important interlocutor on maternal-health field at international level. Created new long-term partnerships with related partners (national professional associations of Ob/Gyns and midwives). Provided greater visibility of Society at international level through participation in international forums. Improved partnership opportunities by making more Canadian NGOs aware of SOGC’s international program: PLAN Canada, OXFAM Quebec, Canadian Network of International Surgeons (CNIS), and universities (University of Sherbrooke, University of Montreal, University of Toronto, University of Ottawa). Strengthened advocacy role of the Society related to Global Health issues by joining with small group of Canadian NGOs to convince Canadian government to include maternal, newborn and child health on discussion agenda at 2010 G8 Summit in Muskoka.
