My role at BWA Insolvency is to manage our clients from the time they come on board with us, right through the insolvency process - whether that be with the Voluntary Administration (VA) regime or the process of Liquidation. The work varies enormously, and this is so because I am working with clients from different industries, and the work also cuts across multiple areas or categories. Let’s look at some of those categories.ON-BOARDING On boarding is setting up the client in our system and collecting all the information required to do our job effectively going forward.COMPLIANCEThis is meeting all the governmental requirements which involves dealing with the appropriate agencies and writing reports.ADMINISTRATIONManaging our client’s day to day administrative requirements. Managing the cash and the financial situation, dealing with suppliers, customers, employees, utility companies, landlords, creditors, debtors, banks, finance companies and any other stakeholders.OPERATIONSThis is keeping all the work in progress moving forward while maintaining proper cash flow. It’s bringing deals together and looking for new opportunities to keep the company afloat.SELLING THE BUSINESS OR ITS ASSETSIf the company moves to a state of liquidation, then the business or its assets need to be sold at some point. I work very closely with the liquidator to move the business itself, or the assets.WINDING UPWhen winding up a company there are quite a few compliance requirements that need to be met, so I follow the guidelines set out by the bodies of law we are bound by.TRAINING STAFFRecently we have just taken on 2 extra staff members because of the workload. I am spending time with both people every week to bring them up to speed on the way we do things. MAINTAINING THE PRACTICE SOFTWAREIt is my job to utilize this bespoke piece of software to monitor time sheets, invoice clients and run reports and maintain the user manual.
