    • Marine Invertebrate Physiology Summer Researcher
      • Jun 2014 - Aug 2014

Participated in a summer research program through UC LEADS and worked on a collaboration between Jennifer Taylor and Martin Tresguerres. Researched the effects of ocean acidification on an intertidal crab, Pachygrapsus crassipes, by rearing crabs in projected acidic conditions for the end of the century. Specimens were sacrificed at the end of the experiment and gills were extracted in order to evaluate expression of two proteins (VHA and NKA) involved in pH regulation. Hemolymph samples were taken in order to asses pH and CO2 content. Show less

      • Aug 2013 - Dec 2013

Worked on an independent project where I researched the effects of ocean acidification on the fecundity and chemoreception ability of a nudibranch, Chromodoris lochi, by rearing subjects in projected acidic conditions for the end of the century. Statistical tests were applied on the number of egg batches laid between water treatments in order to asses changes in fecundity. Nudibranchs were placed in a box with a stimulus and its orientation in regard to the stimulus was noted after 5 minutes. Circular statistical tests were applied in order to asses changes in chemoreception ability. Show less
