  I was the CEO of Proteina for Feeds and decided to leave the company in order to live with the family in Germany again. I wanted to find a successor as quickly as possible as I had already made some job arrangement in Germany. I did not take enough time to find the right successor instead I chose the first that I interviewed. He had the industry background and worked abroad and wanted to come back to Egypt. But it turned out that he is completely lacking leadership skills. He also had a lack of experience regarding the operations as our operations was different to the one he was leading. The result was that the company made huge losses within 6 months. This was due to my wrong choice and some bad actors within the company that willfully manipulated the operations. As a consequence I returned to Egypt to fix things also because i am a shareholder of the company. I stayed there until we found the right person. I also worked with him for a while and we set-up a proper governance model. My impatience, the lack of involvement of other opinions and my misjudgement lead to this event.   Mar 2011 – Jan 2012 / Founder of Freedom Bus Totally taken by the Arab Spring I decided from one day to the other to leave Munich and go to Egypt. I wanted to be part of this huge change that was about to happen. I initiated a grassroots campaign called Freedom Bus talking about democracy. I managed to raise funds and to build an organisation that became independent from my presence and input. An experience that I will never forget.
