I have seen Ashmita grow from a geeky college kid to a mature professional. Her depth of knowledge and hunger to know more always amazes me. She is passionate about her work and always goes that extra mile to bring in that Wow factor in all her deliverables.

I had the pleasure of working with Ashmita on projects involving Multidisciplinary Optimization at the conceptual design level. She's 'ridiculously efficient' in juggling multiple projects. An asset to any team.

I founded Swapaksh (translating to 'One's Own Wings in Sanskrit) to boost indigenous aircraft design in the general aviation sector in India, and to fuel my passion for aircraft design and aerodynamics. I had concepts for electric aircraft in mind at the time, and a thorough market research laid bare the requirement for the same in the aviation academy, aero sports and private aircraft ownership markets. I got working on the same immediately and started an aircraft design team in college with 9 odd people working in various divisions such as aerodynamics, structures, propulsion, power systems, dynamics and stability and operations and management. Within six months, we had 4 feasible concepts and also fared very well in Business Plan competitions at the continent level (Swapaksh was a finalist at Eureka! 2017-2018, IIT-Bombay's annual B-Plan competition which saw 10,000 participants, among whom the top 15 made it to the finals). I am looking forward to meeting interested co-founders, technical mentors and investors who would boost Swapaksh to take-off. Show less

I performed a market research to confirm my hypothesis of the need for all-electric aircraft in the General Aviation industry in India. This included interaction with several aviation academies, pilots and aero sports centers. The Business Plan I developed for Swapaksh also qualified in the finals (youngest in top 15 out of 10,000 participants) of Eureka! 2017, IIT-Bombay's annual Business plan competition for startups.

I received the Summer Research Fellowship 2018 from the Indian Academy of Sciences, to work at the Hypersonic CFD lab at IIT-B. Here, I worked on the design and optimization of a scramjet waverider nozzle using the circular arc method that resulted in a significant increase in thrust to weight ratio offered by the nozzle. As part of the aerodynamics subsystem at Formula Manipal, Manipal Institute of Technology's official FSAE team, I developed designs for the front wing and the undertray of the car using CATIA and ANSYS. The new design was more aerodynamically efficient than the previous, and its implementation could bring down material, manufacturing and test-rig costs significantly.
