Student teacher in a 2nd grade classroom, 5 days a week at Rodriguez Elementary within the Austin Independent School District. Some of my duties and roles in the classroom include planning and teaching lessons in all subject areas, including a math fractions unit plan. I have incorporated anchor charts and hands on activities to aid in a deeper understanding of the units planned. I also incorporated the use of technology as well as any type of kinesthetic activities to aid in engagement and learning. My roles and responsibilities during this time included planning and teaching a literature unit over environmental sustainability and awareness. I incorporated a text set as well as a language chart to aid in deeper understanding of the unit. Planning interactive and engaging lesson plans in all subject areas was part of my role as well as incorporating technology in any and all lesson, if appropriate. Student intern in a Kindergarten classroom one and one half days throughout the week at Blackshear Elementary School within the Austin Independent School District. My responsibilities included incorporating read-alouds to supplement lesson plans to keep the students engaged. I created a unit plan focusing on segregation that incorporated read-alouds, hands on activities, and background on civil rights activists to help students better understand the concept.
