I completed my University student placement at Ishar Multicultural Women's Health Centre in the final semester of my studies. In this position, I assisted with the day-to-day administrative tasks as well as assisting in more specific tasks such as writing social media blog posts to promote and raise awareness surrounding certain health issues that affect culturally and linguistically diverse women more than the rest of the population. I completed a virtual internship based in Les Village in Northern Bali. This project involved working as a sustainable community development worker alongside the local Balinese non-government organisation 'Sea Communities.' We explored how local fishing practices could be altered to improve sustainability for the community by introducing local policies and customs to the village to remove dangerous and unsustainable fishing practices. Following this, we also did research into how the people of Les Village had been affected by COVID-19. I completed a qualitative research process to engage with the local community and research how people's livelihoods both socially and economically had been altered from the global pandemic.
