I worked with Ashley Mansour as Creative Writer for the Wishingtooth brand, where she was Head of Writing on the project. Ashley is an attentive and dedicated team leader who is capable of managing a large media project from high level concept through to the final release pass. Overseeing the creative development and day-to-day schedules of the writing team and the book production team, Ashley originated, co-developed and supervised content across platforms. As Head of Writing, Ashley was involved in the day-to-day running of story development for book, brand and game, children’s story editing, interactive book development and illustration, promo pitches, brand videos and trailers, supervision of story and art across products, marketing copy and all the ins and outs of production between. Due to her unwavering leadership and direction, professional and approachable management methods and her fast reflexes for solving even the trickiest of story problems – be they written or visual – Ashley is an ideal creative director and peer for teams tackling complex multi-media and transmedia strategies. Ashley’s eye for detail and her in-depth knowledge of story editing for children’s books and media helped me to expand my existing knowledge of children’s entertainment as well as develop new skills in content editing for story and brand, task management, cross-department communication and story supervision.

Working with Ashley over the last couple of years has been both a productive and educational experience, in equal measure. Ashley has a broad and diverse range of skills and talents and has the ability to wear many different hats, sometimes all at the same time. She has that rare ability of being able to not only be hugely prolific in her creative output as a writer but to also be a strong leader who possesses a considered awareness and understanding of what it takes to get a product complete, to a very high standard. As the brand advocate for "Wishingtooth' Ashley fostered and developed a strong understanding throughout the team of the core IP message and could always be relied upon to offer tangible and constructive steering on product development. We worked closely together on a number of projects and ideas, Including defining the overall sound of "Wishingtooth". This took us through not only developing the brands audio style and identity but also development of characters voices and appropriate music, for both cinematic experiences and character based pop songs. Ashley contributed many great ideas throughout the process. We would have regular brainstorming sessions, which would require Ashley to quickly introduce either new scripts lines or lyrical content for the songs and then.... even jump in front of a mic and perform a convincing voice over or a great singing performance. I have learnt a lot through working with Ashley, she is a creative at heart and has a refreshing perspective on many things. She always has many great ideas to contribute and the talent to demonstrate them too. What seperates Ashley from the pack is that she has her feet firmly on the ground and turns that perspective and ideas into a reality. On a personal note, we had some great fun working together with many laughs and jokes, which I believe was part of the recipe for our creative collaborations.

In the future, books are a distant memory. The written word has been replaced by an ever-present stream of images known as Verity. In the controlling dominion of the United Vales of Fell, reading is obsolete and forbidden, and readers themselves do not—cannot—exist. But where others see images in the stream, teenager Noelle Hartley sees words. She’s obsessed with what they mean, where they came from, and why they found her. Noelle’s been keeping her dangerous fixation with words a secret, but on the night before her seventeenth birthday, a rare interruption in the stream leads her to a mysterious volume linked to an underworld of rebel book lovers known as the Nine of the Rising. With the help of the Risers and the beguiling boy Ledger, Noelle discovers that the words within her are precious clues to the books of the earlier time—and as a child of their bookless age, she might be the world’s last hope of bringing them back. Blood, Ink & Fire is a gripping, evocative tale that asks, who would we be without books? Show less
