I worked as a medical assistant and scribe within a large orthopedic practice. My duties consisted of taking patients' vital signs and histories prior to presenting the case to a MD or PA. I was also responsible for charting the details of each patient's visit and ordering imaging such as x-rays and MRIs. Clinically, I removed sutures, removed & redressed incisions, drew injections, and fitted durable medical equipment. I also became proficient in fiberglass casting, cast removal, and splinting. Additionally, I was responsible for fielding patients' clinical questions and handing paperwork, such as that for disability.
