India January 2014 Teaching Artist • Led program with 1 collaborating teaching artist for a class of 28 students (ages 9-13) from 5 different Teach For India schools in Pune, India. • Facilitated a 4-hour teacher-training workshop for Teach for India fellows highlighting the use of dramatic activities in the classroom. • Presented a 70min workshop at the InspirED conference in Mumbai, India entitled “Using Theatre to Empower Students’ Voices in the Classroom” Zanzibar, Tanzania July 2010 & June 2011 Teaching Artist • June 2011: Co-taught with 2 collaborating teaching artists in a class of 25 secondary-school students (ages15–18) at Kiembe Samaki School near Stone Town, Zanzibar. • July 2010: Co-taught with 5 collaborating teaching artists in a class of 36 secondary-school students (ages15–18) at Kiembe Samaki School near Stone Town, Zanzibar. • Two-week curriculum leads students through dramatic activities designed to help them write, rehearse, and perform an original play based on issues in their community while simultaneously develop their English literacy skills. Students address issues including gender equality, HIV/AIDS, poverty, and government corruption. The play is performed for an audience of friends, family, and the school community. Show less
