I was in the Student Recruitment Office at Capilano University where I had the opportunity to learn from, and work closely with, Ashley MacDonald. I can say, without hesitation, that she has been a significant contributor to my success in both my current and previous roles and continues to be a valued friend outside of the workplace as well. Ashley has many strengths, but her key ones are her abilities to lead, willingness to take on new challenges, and eagerness to always go the extra mile for students who require additional support with their academics. During my time as a member of the Capilano University Recruitment Team Ashley was a leader in every sense of the word. This included tasks such as spearheading on campus events such as the Explore CapU Open House, helping to coordinate the Post-Secondary British Columbia recruitment schedule, and on-boarding new team members which included three other recruiters in addition to myself. Additionally, Ashley always expresses a desire to take on more responsibility beyond what is listed in her job description. New duties, such as training our Student Ambassadors, she learned quickly and was able to provide high-quality work that has had far-reaching positive impacts on the day-to-day operations of Capilano University. She is also an above-average marketer who has provided valuable insights for the university, particularly around social media campaigns. Lastly, Ashley is a wonderful communicator and always makes sure to provide thoughtful and meaningful solutions to any student that she comes across. University can be an extremely stressful time and Ashley’s ability to empathize with individuals and de-escalate high-tension situations is truly remarkable to see firsthand. It is something that I continue to try and emulate on a daily basis in my current role as an Academic Advisor.

Ashley and I worked together as Student Recruitment Advisers and I can honestly say I've never met someone more well suited to the role. Ashley is a natural people person who is always warm, friendly and engaging toward students and their parents. Her customer service skills are outstanding and her thorough knowledge of university programs and student services, combined with her sunny personality, allow her absolutely shine in this role. Additionally, Ashley is extremely detail oriented and is a strong asset to any project or event team. I would recommend Ashley in a heartbeat.
