As a social-emotional learning coach at JCYMS, I committed over 1,800 hours of social service to combatting the educational disparity and lack of social emotional resources to disadvantaged youth in the heart of the south. I have implemented techniques on an individual basis to teach students the importance of self-awareness, self-management, empathy, responsible decision-making, and maintaining healthy relationships. I have especially focused on encouraging my students to make connections between their emotional and behavioral responses to their life experiences and use them as a learning lesson, a stepping stone for the next best version of themselves. Personally targeting and acknowledging the unique personalities of my students in an effort to execute equity by design. All the while using a "curiosity over compliance" approach with radical candor. I have used the mindset that "all learning is social" to create an intellectually stimulating environment both in and outside the classroom. I am grateful and humbled to have embarked on this journey as I prepare to send off the class of 2026 from Jean Childs Young Middle School! #GOWOLVES Show less

At RNH, I encouraged my students to tap into their fullest potential. I encourage inclusivity in the classroom atmosphere by catering to a diverse community of needs through learning partnerships and self reflection. My nurturing spirit and drive to support families from all backgrounds is a core value integrated into the classroom which promotes the skills that are crucial for childhood development.
