  Managed and mentored a multi-disciplinary engineering, operations, and construction team of fifty staff and 250 contractors for all emerging Cenovus Oil Sands areas. Advanced the SAGD commercial developments of Telephone Lake (90,000 bbls/d), Pelican Lake Grand Rapids (180,000 bbls/d), and Kirby West (80,000 bbls/d) by coordinating the regulatory application, FEED, and detailed engineering phases of the projects. Additionally, accountable for 7 EOR Pilot Projects with the potential to unlock in excess of 3MMM bbls of reserves. Designed, constructed and operated 5 Pilots including dewatering, AIDROH, LP SAGD, LP CSS, and Steam/Air Injection while integrating these activities with annual Oil Sands Exploration (OSE) programs or existing commercial operations. Stewarted all activities within annual budgetary constraints of $175 - $200MM.

  Headed up the onsite and Calgary-based multi-disciplinary engineering team of 100 staff and 400 contractors for the Foster Creek and Christina Lake commercial developments. Engineering, commissioning and startup for Phases D&E at Foster Creek and Phase C at Christina Lake adding 100,000 bbls of production capacity. Implemented and influenced operational culture change to include area work team concept increasing team collaboration and ultimately production onstream by 2% or $50MM annually. Hired and onboarded more than 50 professional staff spearheading the creation of corporate onboarding, development, new grad, and training programs.

• Project Manager, SAGD Sustaining & Expansions

  Directly managed and coordinated the installation of over 150 SAGD wellpairs including the associated regulatory, above ground thermal pipelines, powerlines, communications, and other supporting infrastructure. Developed the complete wellpad and pipeline design basis for both Foster Creek and Christina Lake developments. Managed and mentored a high performing SAGD Project Team of ten staff and 150 contractors for both Foster Creek and Christina Lake commercial developments. Completed 15 full-cycle SAGD Offsite expansion and sustaining projects ahead of schedule and under budget. This included wellpads, disposal, source water, salt caverns, sand cells, pipelines, etc. Stewarded all activities within annual budgetary constraints of $225 - $250MM.

• Facilities Engineer, Foster Creek Site

  • 2002 - 2005

  Completed the industry's first gas-lift SAGD wellpair conversion to ESP, including operational performance testing. Designed and integrated the salt cavern systems into existing operations at Foster Creek. Improved day to day plant and well performance by executing over 250 MOC projects during the commissioning and startup of Phases A-C (60,000 bbls/d capacity) at Foster Creek SAGD Commercial and Pilot. Confirmed design basis for future SAGD expansions by completing equipment, chemical, and operational trials while generating technical reports with comprehensive results/recommendations. Reduced Opex costs by $8MM annually, stewarded all onsite project activities within annual budgetary constraints of $10 - $12MM, and saved future phase expansion projects $25MM per phase with process improvements.
