From 2013 to 2017 I completed a research project in conjunction with Rolls-Royce plc entitled "An Investigation into the Thermo Mechanical Fatigue Behaviour of Titanium Metal Matrix Composites". This project has consisted of the development of a bespoke thermo-mechanical fatigue testing system in order to investigate the fundamental behaviour of titanium metal matrix composites under complex loading conditions. This work was presented at the Engineering Integrity Society (EIS) international Fatigue 2017 conference in Cambridge on the 4th of July 2017.EngD projects are defined by our long standing industrial sponsors and address operational requirements identified by these companies. Research into advanced, structural materials is undertaken in conjunction with the Rolls-Royce University Technology Centre (UTC) in Materials based at Swansea University. The project is funded by the EPSRC Strategic Partnership in Structural Metals for Gas Turbines.
