Ashley worked closely with our internship group throughout the course of our project. She was always willing to give us feedback and offered ideas when we struggled. She was also very good about keeping us on track. She is an excellent leader and a great communicator. I am grateful for the opportunity I had to work with her.

I helped small businesses grow through brand strategy improvement. I modified their website design and content, improved search engine optimization, and conducted focus groups to create a new digital campaign. The Refugee Action Network is dedicated to promoting self-reliance within the refugee community within Utah County. As the Communications Director, I was responsible for marketing, fundraising, partnering, and event planning. While volunteering here, I was able to solicit donations from several businesses, including Wilson's Diamond's and Lowe's. I also organized a fundraising event that involved 6 local food trucks willing to donate a percentage of their proceeds to our organization. This event was created to both raise awareness and funds for our local refugees. Show less

My Ballard Center experience began as a student intern and after 4 months I was promoted as Internship Director. During my final year at the Ballard Center I served as the Program Director. During my time there, I worked in tandem with the professor to improve course materials and student satisfaction. I also was responsible for creating teams and assigning projects to students based on skill sets and availability. Some of the highlights of my career were increasing program participation by 30% and campus awareness by 20%. I also developed many hard skills during my time as Program Director, including follow through, strong communication skills, and leadership. Show less

The BYU Ballard Center for Economic Self-Reliance is dedicated to helping students use their unique talents and majors to make the world a better place. I worked specifically with the on-campus internships, where we partner students with organizations from all over the world to work on a semester- long project. As an Internship Director, I directed all phases of 9 student team social innovation projects, from project proposal to final deliverable, and was the direct communication link between our social innovation partners and students. The Director of the Ballard Center hired me to create a new curriculum at BYU. I was responsible for hiring and interviewing all student candidates. I also served as the Team Lead of 5 students. Through our research we created a new class curriculum at BYU that focuses on current best practices of socially innovative organizations. The program has been running for 2 years.

My passion for social innovation led me to this internship at Oxford University. My team and I developed a curriculum for underpriveleged employees in Great Britain that taught basic principles of retirement and savings. We were able to prototype several drafts, and receive helpful feedback through focus groups that helped us achieve 100% customer satisfaction.
